After a big three points Accies web reporter Mark Gillespie caught up with the winning goal scorer Ross Cunningham post-match.
You were the calmest man in the place with that spot kick?
Ross Cunningham: “I‘m a pretty confident penalty taker. When it was awarded, I was going to take it. I knew I was going to score.”
Marios wanted to take it as well?
RC: “I’ll take them until I miss one. If I’m on the park I’m normally the taker. Fair play to Marios, he handed me the ball in the end.”
As a team we needed that win today?
RC: “It’s a massive three points. Livingston is probably one of the toughest games we’ll play all season. They make it difficult for you, but we fought until the end and got the three points we deserved.”
It must have been hard to be out of the team. Goals like today can only improve your chances?
RC: “I scored a few at the start of the season but fell out of the team. When I get the chance I need to show the gaffer I’m the right man for the job. He’s told me I’m still part of his plans, just keep working hard.”
You know you’ll get a chance here if you’re good enough. We’re a club known for bringing the Academy graduates through?
RC: “Definitely. There’s a lot of good talent coming through just know. You’ve got Lewis Smith, Ronan Hughes, Reegan Mimnaugh is in and about the squad. It’ gives the club a good platform.”
And a good win today for a Livingston boy?
RC: “I’m from Harthill so not far. I was born in Livingston. My mum’s originally from there, so she’ll not be too happy!”
