Dear Academy Parents/Guardians & Players

The past few months, have been, to say the least, exceptionally difficult for us all  and I hope that you and your family are now beginning to feel a little more positive as we are now safely and conscientiously working  towards resuming certain areas of our lives and that includes our Club, as we look forward to welcoming players and yourselves back to HAFC Youth Academy.

The following information may bring you some relief and optimism  in the coming weeks and months ahead.

Phase 3 of lockdown has allowed further restrictions to be lifted; in particular outdoor contact sports, which were  reintroduced  and effective from 13th July 2020.  Therefore, we are delighted to advise you that  we are now in a position to re-open our Youth Academy and return to training week commencing Monday 3 August 2020.

Please note: There will be no competitive games played for the time being

From our perspective you will be relieved to know there is a lot of supportive guidance available to ensure we are fully aware of what is expected, in order to adhere to Scottish Government & SFA guidelines to implement and oversee criteria required  allowing our Academy Players to train within the stadium.

The SFA have recommended each Club appoint a  Covid-19 Coordinator and Scott Struthers has been tasked with this role and is responsible for submitting Track & Trace information in line with Data protection; coaches are not allowed to divulge details of a positive/suspected case reported in accordance with data protection.

Further detailed information can be found within HAFC Parent Player Entry and Exit Procedures.

In order to continue to reduce the spread of the virus, and make sure you are fully aware of all new operational procedures within the Academy in response to Covid-19, we ask that you read the following guidance,

In addition, we ask that each player completes the online wellbeing survey

“Reconnecting to Football HAFC Youth Academy”available HERE.

This short survey will hopefully give our coaches a clearer perspective and insight into ensuring any worries or concerns are highlighted, supported and addressed now and in the future.

Using the 8 Wellbeing indicators of the “SHANNARI” framework, the survey supports our clubs safeguarding ethos of keeping children and young people’s wellbeing a key focus of their development, allowing each player to feel, Safe, Healthy, Active, Nurtured, Achieving, Respected, Responsible and Included.

Finally, former coach, Ross Reddiex, (whom most parents will already know either  from coaching or from  the Mindfulness workshop presented) has put together a short video for the players in the hope of addressing some concerns arising from being in challenging circumstances overall and of course unable to access the Academy as normal. It is hoped this will also give some  confidence and insight with regards to expectations upon their return.

You can watch the video HERE

As always, please feel free to call or email me directly should you have any queries or concerns you feel I have not addressed.

In the meantime, I’m looking forward to welcoming all players and families upon their return to the stadium, week commencing Monday 3 August 2020.

Please be assured should any Scottish Government/SFA guidelines changes which could impact upon your child and our newly implemented procedures; your child’s coach will notify you immediately with additional information shared on social media and the Club website.

Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Kind regards,

George Cairns

Academy Director
