The club can officially confirm that academy graduate Leon McCann has signed for Airdrieonians.

Leon joined Hamilton aged 13 and has played at almost every level with the club, including wearing the captain’s armband and leading the side throughout our UEFA Youth League campaign.

As a club, our aim is to develop our academy players with the hopes of them becoming professional footballers and Leon is another prime example of that. McCann joined Airdrie on loan at the start of the 2019/20 season and has become a regular player for Ian Murray’s side including two man of the match awards for his performances.

Academy Director, George Cairns said: “I’m extremely proud of Leon, he was always the first name on my team-sheet and it’s fantastic he’s got first-team football now. Leon is by far one of the hardest workers we’ve ever had come through our youth system and he’s a fantastic addition to Airdrie.”

He leaves the club with our best wishes from everyone here at Hamilton and we wish him all the success for his future.
