After the game Gary Woods and Dougie Imrie shared their thoughts on the days’ proceedings.

Accies keeper Gary Woods felt that the side should have done better and that a share of the Following the goal less draw at Rugby Park, Accies players Gary Woods and Dougie Imrie points was the right result, when he said, “I think in the first half we created a few opportunities without really testing the goalkeeper, and we could have probably done better. But that has been the story of our season so far and we’ve been creating a lot of chances and just not converting them. But a point at the end of the day was probably about fair.

“I think their keeper made a great save towards the end, and we limited them to very few chances. I think we were probably on top in the game and they had a spell toward the end and put us under pressure which you expect from the home side. On another day we might have won 2-0, but we came away with a clean sheet and a point.”
And he added, “I think in one game this season, everything will just all come together and we’ll go in  at half time 4-0 up. The performances so far this season have been high, apart from Dundee last week when we didn’t really turn up. But other than that we’ve created a lot of chances, and there hasn’t been a side that we’ve thought have been better than us. So I think you’ll find that it will all click together at some point and we’ll give someone a doing.”

The Hamilton keeper wasn’t sure if the penalty decision was right or wrong when he said,  “I’m not too sure, I was too far away but a lot of the lads are saying that one was definitely a penalty and the other was a hand ball. Some days it goes for you and other is doesn’t it.” Gary added, “Dougie was through on goal. Why would he go down? There’s no point as he had the ball under control, it’s one of those were I’ll have to take a look again.”

When asked if he thought Hamilton should have taken the three points, midfielder Dougie Imrie was forthright when he said, “Overall, with the chances we created yes. Rakish has had a free header in the box from Ali’s corner in the first half, and we had numerous chances to play someone in if we’d taken the right option. Wee Ali as well, the ball comes across past the full back, and if he takes a touch he’s in one on one but he then snaps at it.

“But listen, we’ll take a point away from home, it’s a good point but we should be winning these games. If we take these chances we wouldn’t be where we are and we’d be much higher up the league. But we’ll keep going as we know we’re a good team, we just need to take chances when they come along and maybe be a little bit more composed when the chances come along.”

And Dougie was in no doubt about the lack of a penalty award, “For me it’s a penalty, I’ve come inside and stepped across him. I know he’s going to make the tackle, so I’ve stepped across him and he’s taken me down. It’s black and white, but obviously it’s difficult for the referee.

“Kris Boyd’s wanting a penalty as well, the two of them are exactly the same and we’re not going to go down in the box for nothing. There’s contact there and I think his is a penalty as well if I’m being honest, but you move on and if you don’t get it, you don’t get it. It’s that simple, and if I’m being honest I think that they’re both penalty kicks. “
