The club can confirm Darian MacKinnon’s contract with Hamilton has come to an end.
Darian has been a magnificent servant to Hamilton since his arrival from Clydebank in 2012. He was part of the famous squad that secured Premiership football in our 2014 play-off win against Hibs.
The captain’s contract was terminated early as a mutual agreement between himself and the club, as he seeks to pursue regular first-team football. The 34-year-old has been an important servant for the club and leaves a ‘cult hero’ to the Accies faithful.
Speaking to the clubs website, Allan Maitland said: “Darian’s been absolutely brilliant for Hamilton ever since his arrival. He’s a true professional on and off the park and we wish him all the best in the future.”
“Darian will remain as part of our academy coaching staff with his current post as u16s coach. He’s still an important part of the club’s academy plans going forward.”
He leaves the club with the best wishes from everyone at Hamilton Academical FC.
