Brian Rice spoke to our media team after the friendly fixture against Raith Rovers which ended 3-2 to the Kirkcaldy side.

“I’ll take the second half performance from tonight, we got two good goals and a lot of the youngsters involved in the game. It was definitely a game that we needed, I think you could see the rustiness in the first half but as the game developed we got stronger and stronger.

“I want the younger lads to get in amongst the first team and show me how good they are, I don’t want them to be fazed if I pick them to play. I think Ronan Hughes played well this evening and deserved his goal. He’s had a really good pre-season, I spoke to him at the end of last season and told him I needed him to come back and compete for the first-team and he’s done exactly that.

“We play Albion Rovers on Saturday so the aim is to kick on and stop conceding goals. This is the time to get rid of our mistakes, we’ve made them so it’s time to get rid of them.

The next pre-season friendly fixture is Saturday, 6th July against Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill.
