Accies Academy graduate and fans favourite Brian Easton has shared his delight over a return to the club.
Easton said: “It feels like you are coming home, I am delighted to be back and buzzing to get going again.”
Brian admitted the decision to return to the club was not a difficult one and negotiations were swift.
He said: “I spoke to the gaffer not long after the season had finished while I was weighing up my options, the initial talks were positive and it was all agreed pretty quickly.”
The defender turned down the chance to stay at St Johnstone where in the last 18 months he had struggled to hold down a place with injuries.
Easton said: “I had a great six years at St Johnstone and made a lot of fantastic memories with great people but I didn’t get as much game time as I would have liked towards the end. I was beginning to think a fresh start would be good and when Hamilton came along it was the perfect fit.”
Having come through the academy himself the defender highlighted the importance of sharing his experience with the current academy players.
He said: “It’s massive for me, I am looking forward to it because when I came through I had a massive amount of help, I want to help the young boys the way I was helped. In the short time since I’ve been back, I have noticed there is a lot of quality in there and it’s filled with good lads who are eager to improve.
Brian is not the only player to make the switch from St Johnstone to Hamilton this summer, midfielder Blair Alston also joins following the end of his contract at the Perth side.
Easton admitted he was keen to see Blair make the switch with him: “When I found out he had an offer from Hamilton I was quick to tell him what sort of club it was and when I officially signed I was right on the phone to Blair saying I hope he follows. Blair is a top player, technically he is very good and he will work hard for the team, I think he is a brilliant signing for this club, personally, he is the sort of team-mate I love playing alongside.”
Both players do not have long to wait to return to competitive football with the Betfred cup fixtures set to begin on the 13th of July with a home fixture against Queens Park.
